The National Code for Large Developments operated by non-educational providers is currently being reviewed to ensure it is up to date and remains in line with issues that are important to students. Full details of the consultation can be found here.

A public consultation was launched on 5th July 2021 and this closed on 16th August 2021. This consultation was as wide as possible and included:

National Bodies: UUK, GuildHE, UKCISA, HEPI, OfS, UCAS, CIEH, LGA

Educational Sector Bodies: CUBO, AUDE, AMOSSHE, ASRA

Students Unions: NUS and their affiliates

Code Members: all UUK and ANUK/Unipol Code members

The consultation was referenced respective websites.

Responses could take two forms:

  1. a) an on-line survey which was completed by 27 respondents, 15 of which were students’ unions.
  2. b) by email. There were seven substantive responses with four of these being larger PBSA providers.

An additional number of short emails welcoming the proposed changes were also sent.

Unipol would like to thank all of those that responded and is currently considering the issues and points raised and will complete this process for a meeting of the National Codes Consortium to be held on 22nd September 2021 when the Code will be finalised. In this interim period Unipol will communicate further with those that made substantive representations to ensure the issues raised have been addressed.
