UK Student Accommodation Forum Update

There is a new event in the UKSAF series now available to book on the Unipol website:

International Students - What is Happening Now and What Will Happen in the Future?

This special event will look at pandemic student mobility trends and how they are likely to affect student accommodation, including analysis of:

  • Study visa issuance and UCAS acceptances for this upcoming year

  • Other indications for 2021 and 2022 intakes

  • Long-term outlook for student mobility to the UK

  • Scenarios for recovery

This will coincide with a briefing being issued on these subjects to National Code members and other interested parties.

Guest Speakers include:

  • Matt Durnin - Global Head of Insight and Consultancy, International Education Services at the British Council

  • Nick Hillman, Director at the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI)

Important Update on UKSAF Recordings and Notes on the Unipol Website

As the Unipol Training programme is being relaunched for 2021 – 2022, the notes and recordings from all previous editions of the UK Student Accommodation Forum will be taken down from the Unipol website at the end of August. You have until then to watch the videos and view the notes, which can be found on the dedicated UK Student Accommodation Forum section of the Unipol website.

If you found the forums helpful during the pandemic, make sure to check out the new programme as details are released over the next couple of months.

Code Consultation Now Closed

The consultation on the review of the National Code for Non-Educational Establishments closed on 16th August, with a total of 34 responses being received.

Responses could take two forms:

  1. An on-line survey which was completed by 27 respondents, 15 of which were students’ unions

  2. By email. There were seven substantive responses with four of these being larger PBSA providers.

An additional number of short emails welcoming the proposed changes were also sent.

Unipol would like to thank all respondents to the consultation and will consider all issues and points raised before the revised Code will be taken to a meeting of the National Codes Consortium on 22nd September 2021 for finalising.

Complaints Data & New Case Studies

The Code Complaints Investigators has written a number of useful case studies detailing the outcome of various complaints, to evidence how the complaints process assists in reaching resolutions in different ways. Any details that may identify a student or provider are omitted. You can view the case studies on the National Code website.

The latest complaints data is also available to view here.
